FatFace believes in living life to the fullest, fostering positive relationships, and embracing a spirit of fun. With this, the brand has always had a passion and respect for games, athletes and sport. From the early years, sponsoring high level, adrenaline fuelled competitions of the peaks and surf to a current collaboration with London Pulse Netball, partnering with a world class team that is looking to reach new heights, on and off the court.

But no matter the game, no matter the level of competition FatFace has always recognised that sport is a community. A community of competitors and beginners, of wins big and small, it’s a community of support and inclusivity. Everyone can benefit from sport and nobody, not any body, should feel left out, left behind or left without the opportunity to just join in.

Embracing those values, the FatFace Foundation is excited to announce the launch of our latest initiative, the Team Risers Project – a grant giving fund designed to support and uplift communities by providing financial assistance to grassroots sports across the UK. By providing funding and resources, the FatFace Foundation aims to empower communities, foster innovation, and promote sport equity.

What is Team Risers?

Inspired by partnerships of FatFace’s past, we want to seek out the game changers and, through funding and resources, empower coaches, grassroots clubs and teams to foster innovation and promote sports equity and inclusion.
Grassroots sport can be the beginning of something new, a connection to something lasting or the runway to allowing people to lift themselves higher than they ever thought possible. The Team Risers Project wants to help give everyone the opportunity to play and join in.
By focusing on smaller, community driven efforts, Team Risers and the FatFace Foundation hope to nurture projects that have the potential for significant local impact in diverse and inclusive communities.

Team Risers and Sport Equity

Team Risers is not just about funding; it’s about creating equitable opportunities for all to participate in sports. Recognising that sport plays a vital role in bringing people together, fostering health, and building community spirit. The FatFace Foundation is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to participate.

Why Sport Equity Matters

Sport equity is about fairness and inclusion in access to sports and physical activities. It ensures that everyone, regardless of age, gender, ability, race, sexual orientation, religion or socioeconomic status, has the opportunity to engage in sports.

This is crucial for:
  • Health and Wellbeing: Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining physical and mental health. Ensuring equitable access to sports helps improve the overall wellbeing of individuals and communities.
  • Building Community and Social Cohesion: Sports bring people together, fostering community bonds and social interaction. By promoting equity, we ensure that these benefits are accessible to all.
  • Empowering Marginalised Groups: Providing access to sports opportunities for underrepresented groups helps in empowering them, giving them a platform to showcase their talents and build confidence.

How Team Risers Promotes Sport Equity

Team Risers is designed to address disparities in sports access by:
  • Targeting Underfunded Areas: By identifying communities and groups that lack sports infrastructure or funding, Team Risers can allocate resources where they are most needed.
  • Supporting Inclusive Projects: Projects that emphasise inclusivity and aim to break down barriers to participation are prioritised, ensuring that everyone has a chance to engage in sports.
  • Encouraging Diverse Participation: By supporting a diverse range of sports and activities, Team Risers ensures that there are options available for all interests and abilities.
  • Building Sustainable Programmes: By focusing on the long-term impact, the fund supports projects that aim to create sustainable, ongoing opportunities for community sports participation.

Through Team Risers, the FatFace Foundation is committed to levelling the playing field. By supporting projects that prioritise equity and inclusion, we can help create a more vibrant, healthy and engaged community. If you, your team, school or organisation need kits, equipment or have an idea or project that aligns with our goals, consider applying here to become part of Team Risers.
Together, we rise.
