We are proud to share news of the FatFace Foundation’s continued partnership with Step by Step, following the opening of their brand‑new Move On home in Bedhampton.

Step by Step are a long‑standing charity partner of the Foundation, working tirelessly to prevent youth homelessness and to support young people as they build safer, more independent futures. Their newly opened Bedhampton property is the third Move On home delivered by the charity and marks an important milestone in extending supported accommodation for young people aged 18 and over.

Move On homes are designed for young people who are ready to take their next steps towards independence but who do not yet have access to secure housing options. The Bedhampton house will support up to four young people, offering them a safe, stable place to live while they continue to receive tailored support from Step by Step’s experienced team.

Living in the home allows residents to:

  • Build confidence and independence
  • Learn how to live with others
  • Manage bills and household responsibilities
  • Access ongoing emotional and practical support

This supported transition can make the difference between a young person thriving independently or falling back into crisis.

Young people over 18 are often at heightened risk of housing insecurity, with many facing long waits on housing lists or relying on unstable arrangements such as sofa‑surfing. Step by Step’s Move On model recognises that turning 18 does not make challenges disappear overnight and that continued, appropriate support is essential.

Early outcomes from existing Move On homes have already shown positive impact, with young people moving into full independence, reconnecting safely with family, securing employment and building more stable lives.

The Foundation’s support

The FatFace Foundation was delighted to contribute £15,000 towards the set‑up of the new Bedhampton home, helping to create a welcomingn space where young people can feel safe and supported. As shared in Step by Step’s announcement, our contribution reflects a shared commitment to supporting young people in the communities we call home and to investing in long‑term, life‑changing solutions.

Working together for lasting change

This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships. Alongside Step by Step’s dedicated team and supportive local landlords, the Move On home demonstrates how collaborative working can open doors to opportunity for young people who might otherwise be left behind.

We are incredibly proud to support Step by Step once again and to play a small part in helping young people take their next steps towards independence. We look forward to continuing our partnership and sharing more stories of impact as this home begins to change lives.
